Welcome!
The Foothills USBC Association is new, and hopefully
improved, while still maintaining the traditions and services we were proud to
provide in the past as separate associations. The mission statement for our
association is consistent with that of USBC:
“The Foothills USBC Association
ensures the integrity and protects the future of the sport, provides programs
and services and enhances the bowling experience.” We are happy to welcome our returning
members, as well as new certified members to our association.
Merged and Moving Forward
As voted by our membership, the
local men, women, and youth associations have joined together to provide consistent
and equitable bowling services and activities in support of our local adult and
youth members. The Board of Directors,
comprised of men, women, and youth, is working hard to meet the goals set by
national headquarters, as well as joining forces as a single organization to fulfill
its commitment to all of our members through various tournaments, awards
processing, hall of fame recognition, and charity events.
However, the above does not begin to convey the effort involved
in this merge process and there is still a lot to be done—please read on.
Your Association Needs You!
The work required to fulfill
our mission is dependent on a board comprised of 13 directors and the
association manager. Due to a variety of
circumstances, your board is working at a disadvantage. Due to the resignation of our first appointed
association manager, this position is being filled temporarily by director
Bonnie Ulrich, thereby requiring her to wear two hats. Also, citing family and
job issues, two other directors, one of whom was the vice president, have found
it necessary to resign. Appointments to fill two of these positions have already
been made, but this still leaves one director position vacant, as well as the
need to permanently fill the association manager position.
What all this means is that we
are asking for volunteers to help us meet our obligations to the
membership. Yes, it requires time,
effort and commitment. However, many
hands make light the work—but we not only need your hands, we need your ideas,
creativity, time, and other talents.
Following are some of the activities and expectations of potential board
members:
Volunteers to serve on any of our committees would also
be most welcome and appreciated.
The only compensation we can offer you is the
satisfaction that you are contributing to the running of your association and
the ability to make a difference.
A search committee will be appointed to identify, solicit
and select candidates for the position of association manager. Please watch for the announcement, job
description, and procedure for applying for this very important, though
underpaid, position. The job itself has
its own rewards.
Please contact
Laurie Olsen or any other board member if you are interested in any of these
new and rewarding experiences. (See page
2 for a list of current board members.)

Web Site—Under Construction
We are happy to announce that association member, Zach
Hittle, has graciously offered his time and resources to develop a web site for
our association. The content will include information on tournaments, policies,
averages, hall of fame, and a variety of other information. Zach is attending CSU, studying computer
science, and has taken on this task as a favor to us, as well as a learning
experience for him. We are so grateful
for his help and creativity. This project
is new to all of us, and in trying to produce a professional, informative web
site, it is taking more time than anticipated.
We’ll let you know when it’s available.
Thank you, Zach!!
